I first met Daniel Sims over 10 years ago when my husband and I wanted to undertake a huge home renovation. Daniel came highly recommended by my brother, a commercial contractor here in Atlanta. Daniel not only quickly understood the scope of the project, he was also able to add his own suggestions that saved us money without sacrificing quality. He was reliable, friendly, and conscientious. He carefully supervised the laborers and made sure that their work was up to his high standard. As I I look at our home now, I could not be happier with the result.

Several years later, we decided to build a mountain home, and we immediately knew we wanted Daniel to be our contractor.  The project was done efficiently both in time and money and the results were stunning. Our working relationship was easy as Daniel continued to communicate clearly and made sure that he understood exactly what we wanted. Again, he exceeded our expectations.

We also hired Daniel to do a complete makeover of our rental property as well as other minor projects. Daniel always went the extra mile whenever we called and needed his help.

I have known Daniel for over 10 years. We met when I was looking for someone to help me build a new house to replace my former house that had been destroyed by a flood. He was referred to me by a friend who had worked with him on other building projects and had been pleased with his work. I had built a commercial building before, but never a house and because of the flood, this project had some real issues. I needed someone who could not only deal with the city and state permit requirements, but could design and build the home I wanted; a Frank Lloyd Wright inspired prairie style home. And of course the new structure also had to be able to withstand the possibility of future floods and I wanted an inground pool.

I was told Daniel was a craftsman and worked well on design builds, so we met and discussed what I wanted. We discussed the flood plain issues and I told him I wanted a prairie style home but we had to build a ranch style foot print and it needed to be elevated 12 feet. I also wanted to use a lot of wood and stone. I wanted real craftsmen work with high end finishes. Most of the houses in the area were well over the million dollar mark and I felt we should build something that reflected that type of value.

Daniel set to work taking in to consideration the properties restriction and our wishes and was able to come up with a great design. It was a true prairie style, elevated yet grounded with large stone columns and able to withstand future floods. It reflected both design and function. He was then able to work with the city and state to get his plans approved, adjusting for all their requirements and get the permits. He was also able to get extra fill dirt approved, which was unheard of in a flood plain.

Once we got past the city and state the project progressed smoothly, everyone from the framers, dry wallers, electricians, roofers, HVAC guys, wood craftsmen, stone workers, pool guys, landscapers, even the elevator guys all worked well under his watchful eye. Not to say there were no issues, every project has issues, but he was able to adjust as needed and solve the problems to keep the project moving. He even did some custom wood work himself.

The house turned out amazing. It was a long process, a lot of which were the permits and some of the changes I made along the way, but we were very happy with the end results. I hope he has some pictures to show you.

I consider Daniel a friend as well as an excellent project manager. He is upfront and honest. I would definitely use him again on another project. He was able to take us through a tough building project with a great result in the end.

In the fall of 2013 I purchased a large house that was under construction on the Big Island of Hawaii. I met Daniel in July of 2014 when he was hired to hang both interior and exterior doors. He worked with speed, accuracy and skill. He impressed me from the very beginning because of his professionalism. He showed up for work on time and put in a good eight hours of very competent finish construction. I mention what should be the norm because here in Hawaii it is often difficult to find carpenters and laborers with those qualities.

It soon became apparent to us that Daniel’s strengths and interests lay far beyond finish work. I quickly learned that he had previously owned a large commercial and residential construction company on the mainland. I had had many problems with the construction of this house including having to fire the project manager for incompetence and theft. At the time I was trying to run the job myself and seeing my frustrations Daniel offered to help. He immediately put together spread sheets listing materials on the job site, materials already on order and materials needed to complete the work. He also set out estimates in labor and time to finish the project. Due to his efforts we were able to get a handle on both what needed to be done and the cost of finishing the house.
Daniel then took over and managed the work to completion of the house. His talents include project management, carpentry, plumbing and electric, welding and design work. He listened to our needs and desires and gave us valuable constructive input. His dedication to the job and his honesty were a refreshing change. We strongly recommend Daniel and are confident that you will be both satisfied and pleased with his work.
